Red Star OS - A Look at North Korean Computing [Part 1]

Published on Nov 18, 2015
Ever wonder what computing is like in North Korea? Well, I'm here to give you a glimpse of that! Red Star OS is North Korea's own Operating System, and is believed to be the most widely used OS in the country. North Korea used to use Windows XP and 7 based systems (ironic, as Windows is a product of an American-based company) and English was used as the default language (also ironic). However, Red Star OS is made and developed inside North Korea. Version 3.0, which is the newest version, is the OS that I am demoing in this video. This version looks a lot like Mac OS X, while previous versions looked more like Windows.

A Message For Turkey - Anonymous

Published on Dec 20, 2015
Greetings citizens of the world,

we are Anonymous.

As many of you have heard, Turkey is supporting Daesh by buying oil from them, and hospitalising their fighters.

We won't accept that Erdogan, the leader of Turkey, will help ISIS any longer. The news media has already stated that Turkey's Internet has been the victim of massive DDOS attacks. This lead Turkey to shut down it's internet borders and deny anybody outside the country to access Turkish websites.

Dear government of Turkey,

If you don't stop supporting ISIS, we will continue attacking your internet , your ROOT DNS , your banks and take your government sites down.
After the root dns we will start to hit your airports, military assets and private state connections. We will destroy your critical banking infrastructure
Stop this insanity now Turkey. Your fate is in your own hands.

We Are Anonymous

We Are Legion

We Do Not Forgive

We do not forget.

Expect us.

15 YEARS OF TERROR | A time-lapse map

Published on Nov 21, 2015
A time-lapse of all terrorist attacks with MORE than 20 fatalities between 1.12.2000 and 13.11.2015 by http://www.milanvuckovic.com
please read the description. SUBSCRIBE AND SHARE – if you like. Btw. you are the best.

Soruces:
START terrorism database "GTD" (2000-2014)
Various News Agencies (2015)

Important Note: due to the large amount of data used, there are likely to be mistakes (exact chronology, location, casualties etc.). This video should serve as an approximation. (Especcially in the messy parts.)
Typical error would be: GTD had sometimes the "at least" casualties in the database. Istanbul Bombings of 2003 are not present on the map because of this. I also used different definitions of terrorism regarding the area and time of attacks.

About the copy at the end:
Historians debate about weather terrorist groups are destined to fail or not. Some say that authentic terrorist organizations achieve partial goals only. Many regard John Brown (approx. 150 years ago) as the most successful terrorist till this day – But you might read the essays: "How Successful Is Terrorism?" (James M. Lutz and Brenda J. Lutz) and "Why Terrorism Does Not Work" (M. Abrahms) and you will find out what this message is exactly about: Deterring potential future terrorism by education.

---

Synopsis:
In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

NASA | Thermonuclear Art – The Sun In Ultra-HD (4K)

Published on Nov 1, 2015
It’s always shining, always ablaze with light and energy. In the ubiquity of solar output, Earth swims in an endless tide of particles. Every time half of the Earth faces the Sun, we experience the brightness of daytime, the Sun’s energy and light driving weather, biology and more. But in space, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) keeps an eye on our nearest star 24/7. SDO captures images of the Sun in 10 different wavelengths, each of which helps highlight a different temperature of solar material. In this video we experience images of the Sun in unprecedented detail captured by SDO. Presented in ultra-high definition video (4K) the video presents the nuclear fire of our life-giving star in intimate detail, offering new perspective into our own relationships with grand forces of the solar system.

Amateur Beats Gov't at Digitizing Newspapers: Tom Tryniski's Weird, Wonderful Website

Published on Mar 5, 2013
One computer expert working alone has built a historic newspaper site (http://fultonhistory.com) that's orders of magnitude bigger and more popular than one created by a federal bureaucracy with millions of dollars to spend. Armed only with a few PCs and a cheap microfilm scanner, Tom Tryniski has played David to the Library of Congress' Goliath.

Tryniski's site, which he created in his living room in upstate New York, has grown into one of the largest historic newspaper databases in the world, with 22 million newspaper pages. By contrast, the Library of Congress' historic newspaper site, Chronicling America, has 5 million newspaper pages on its site while costing taxpayers about $3 per page. In January, visitors to Fultonhistory.com accessed just over 6 million pages while Chronicling America pulled fewer than 3 million views.

Bob Dylan & IBM Watson on Language

To my knowledge, Bob Dylan has only appeared in a handful of TV commercials over the decades, including most notably a bizarre ad for Victoria’s Secret back in 2004. Now you can add another to the small list. Last night, IBM debuted a new ad with the iconic singer-songwriter. And this time around, Dylan isn’t peddling bras. Rather, it’s IBM’s cognitive system called “Watson,” which promises to analyze data for corporations in all kinds of interesting ways. Says IBM:...

Even though Kim is under house arrest—since he's at the center of history's largest copyright case—he's still able to visit a recording studio in Auckland. So check out this brand new documentary we made at Kim's mega-mansion and in the studio where our host, Tim Pool, got to lay down some backup vocals for Kim's upcoming EDM album while talking about online surveillance, file-sharing, and Kim's controversial case.

Experiencing Psychosis with Digital LSD

Published on Nov 5, 2013
In 2005, artist Jennifer Kanary's sister-in-law committed suicide while suffering from a psychotic episode. This event led Jennifer to develop Labyrinth Psychotica, an experience designed to give people more insight into how it feels to suffer through psychosis.

Users are strapped into virtual reality gear and transported into the mind of a psychotic girl named Jamie. The whole experience lasts twelve minutes, during which 'normal' reality gets increasingly intertwined with Jamie's psychotic reality, making it more and more difficult to distinguish between what's real and what's not.

Internet Scamming in Ghana

Fraudsters in Ghana show us how they use internet scams to steal thousands of dollars from unsuspecting victims all over the globe.
--
While Nigeria's 401 scammers may have written the book on West African internet fraud, their shtick looks like Compuserve compared to what's going on in Ghana. Unsatisfied with the meager winnings from emailing thousands of random Westerners in hopes of convincing one poor sap they're the treasurer of the Ivory Coast, Ghana's scammers decided to stack the odds in their favor the old-fashioned way—witchcraft.

Taking a page from cyberpunk, traditional West African Juju priests adapted their services to the needs of the information age and started leading down-on-their-luck internet scammers through strange and costly rituals designed to increase their powers of persuasion and make their emails irresistible to greedy Americans. And so "Sakawa" was born.

Now not only is Sakawa Ghana's most popular youth activity and one of its biggest underground economies, it's a full-blown national phenomenon. Sakawa has its own tunes, clothing brands, Sakawasploitation flicks, and even a metastatic backlash from Christian preachers and the press. When we were in Accra over the summer it was impossible to walk more than 10 feet without seeing the word Sakawa in blood-red Misfits letters on a poster or tabloid, often accompanied by bone-chilling horrors of the photoshopped variety.

The government is freaked out because Sakawa is threatening Ghana's business reputation, the Christians are freaked out because they're losing money to the Juju priests, the press is freaked out because being freaked out is what sells papers, and the public is freaked out because their government, preacher, and media are all telling them they should be. All the while the Sakawa boys are living the high life and racking up debts to the spirit world, just waiting for the axe to fall.

Shocking Crimes That The Internet Solved

Published on Apr 7, 2015
Criminals who were caught with the help of the online community.
Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg

Description:
The Internet is truly one of the most amazing innovations of our society today. From social media, and engaging in the world of information and learning. There isn’t anything that you can do on the Internet that remains a secret these days. With the government tracking online activity, and fellow community members able to conduct research on others, it can be hard to do something online and expect to get away with it, especially these days. This includes crime. The people who are breaking the law and are of immoral character seem to suffer under the sin of vanity, meaning that they can’t stay quiet about their crimes. Once their bragging is posted online, millions of people are able to track the perpetrator and report it to police. Sometimes, the best detectives are regular people who hang out behind the computer screen.
Celia Blay solved a case after she was browsing the Internet and found a suicide newsgroup. There, she discovered that there were plans for a mass suicide pact. Blay tried to report the pact to police, but they showed little interest in the case, so she did her own investigation and digging. She befriended and started looking into a suspicious user by the name of “Li Dao”, who claimed to be a young woman with suicidal tendencies. However, Blay discovered that Li Dao was actually a middle aged man by the name of William Melchert-Dinkel, who was convicted of assisting suicides after showing numerous people how to hang themselves via webcam. William’s desires of playing God with the lives of people were over thanks to Celia Blay.
Of course, if there is any group that has made solving crimes via Internet a true art form, it is the hacktivist group, “Anonymous”. After declaring war on pedophiles and online predators in 2011, Anonymous have brought down over 41 pedophile websites and reported over 1,500 names of predators to the FBI for further investigation. Anonymous is still going strong to this day, making the Internet a safer place thanks to their vigilante techniques.
Social media has also had a big hand in solving crimes. After a hate crime against a gay couple occurred, media outlets released the surveillance footage, hoping that the public could help police identify the people in the video. Luckily, Twitter users rose to the occasion and began retweeting the video and sharing it all over the Internet. Eventually, someone was able to identify the people in the video after they checked into the location on Facebook, and they were arrested and brought to justice.
Then we have crooks that accidentally report themselves. For example, Randy Schaefer discovered that his truck was broken into, and $5,000 cash and his iPad were stolen. Randy was going to try to move on from the incident, until he noticed that the robbers were recording videos and taking pictures with the iPad, unaware that it was being uploaded to Randy’s iCloud account. The police eventually caught up with the crooks and they were arrested.
For more crimes that the Internet solved, check out the rest of this video, and be ready to face palm yourself, as some of the perpetrators in this video surely did some terrible and stupid things that pretty much gave themselves away.

These losses trigger no delivery failure warnings, and are not easily detectable other than by human observation of the lost traffic. Data packets don’t just disappear…they have to go somewhere. Perhaps someone discovered a way to invisibly grab them without a trace for some unknown motive. Nine) GhostNet. In 2009 security researchers were investigating the Dalai Lama's networks which had been infiltrated, when they discovered the largest cyber spying operation ever known. It had successfully infiltrated sensitive political, economic and media networks in over 100 countries, including embassies and other government offices. Eight) Gary McKinnon. He discovered a picture that shows a strange tubular shaped otherworldly aircraft in very high resolution next to a government spacecraft in orbit. Since he did this in 2002, he was on a dialup connection, causing the massive picture to download and render through his remote connection very slowly…and right as it was 2/3s of the way finished, someone noticed the computer was being controlled remotely…and quickly regained control of the mouse cursor which Gary watched in some mixture of disbelief and horror as it moved up to the right corner of the window and closed it…Gary’s connection was then immediately cut. Seven) Cicada 3301. A secretive organization posts an annual puzzle contest, with the intention to recruit those rare individuals who are intelligent enough to solve it. The clues are arranged in a virtual treasure hunt, with each one leading to the next. Six) Anonymous. This internet gathering is the loose cannon of the hacktivist community with a “decentralized command structure that operates on ideas rather than directives”. Their primary attack strategy involves overloading websites with fake traffic, effectively taking them offline. Their targets have included government, religious and corporate websites. Five) The A858 Code For four years now, a mysterious user whom goes by the name A858 has been consistently posting large blocks of random numbers and letters on Reddit. Nobody knows what they mean - and if it is a code, nobody has cracked it. Four) Mariana’s Deep Web. The internet can be defined in layers. The two surface layers represent all the public and password protected activity on the net. The third layer is a creepy blackmarket network. The fourth layer is all the private, government and corporate networks. The deepest layer is rumored to be an evolved Artificial Intelligence that gathers all human knowledge, including, allegedly, the location of Atlantis and Tesla's free energy. Three) Quantum Computer Revolutions. Moore's law states that the number of transistors in a circuit doubles every two years, indicating the ever increasing computing power of modern processors. This is fast, but what about when the inherit way computers process information changes completely? At a certain point in time, quantum computing may become a reality. Two) Godlike Artificial Intelligence. Imagine that quantum computers are a reality, conscious digital minds seem to be in our near future. Such beings could exist in many places throughout the deep web at once, travelling to new connections at the speed of light, or if scientists figure out how to exploit the entanglement behavior of quantum particles, much faster…the speed of instantly, which according to some theories, would also allow them to travel through time as well as instantly teleport from one end of the universe to the other. One) The Mysterious Reason Bitcoins were Invented: To Remove Government Power & Create a Better World (Bitcoins: Overthrow Government Power? Loss of government power over money also gives its citizens true freedom to do whatever they please with their money…resulting in, depending upon your economic beliefs, a world where trade increases dramatically and its economy flourishes like never before. All of humanity’s standards of living would increase dramatically as well as would our advancement in all areas such as technology or medicine at a much, much faster rate. No one can really agree as to why Bitcoins were invented in the first place as no one actually knows who created them….causing their true purpose to remain a mystery.
